Graham K Norman Architect
Brougham Hall Gardens, Brougham
Contemporary garden room extension to existing dwelling.
The new extension adopts a clever wedge shape to avoid blocking light to adjacent windows, and this helps to create a dynamic space.
The walls are clad in brickwork to match the existing house, and hide a sloping roof behind a small parapet wall dressed with metal flashing. Similarly, the powder coated aluminium frames to the new glazed screens and sliding doors are coloured dark brown to match with the existing hardwood windows.
The internal space is flooded with natural light via the rooflight in the ceiling and also from the glazed sliding doors which open onto the gardennd extension to a charming cottage.
